Summertime Schedule - two words that should never go together

Dear Farley, We survived winter! And summer is here now! So, cheer up you old lug. Max and Lucy will be home to harass play with you, step over you in the middle of any room during one of your 17 naps each day, and probably dress you up on occasion. Why aren't you more excited about summer!?

I guess it's summertime. I mean, the kids don't get out of school until tomorrow. However, their last week of school consists of a national holiday on Monday (yesterday was Memorial Day, y'all), today is a make-up field trip at some park, but I'm not going on principle that I am NOT that mom who is up at the school all the time. And tomorrow is last day of school, but it's only a half day. They won't even serve lunch. There's a note on their little menu that says so, "Eat at your own risk, SUCKAS!" Okay, maybe it doesn't say that exactly, but close. Mostly, it's a friendly reminder to parents that you better come get your kids at noon.

I think I've mentioned my list making, schedule planning, and summer fun having ness before. So, this is the "last day of school" before summer hits me upside the head. And I need a plan. I mean, I have most of the activities, camps, and overall fun having scheduled. But I need a schedule so that I'm available to them, but able to get my own stuff done. Again, if you need to call me, you have about 7 days. After that, it's KiddoPalooza. All kids all the time. Once again, I'm looking forward to it. They are seven now and articulate, fun, creative little creatures.
7a.m. - Write
8a.m. - shove food in kids and beg them to get ready for the gym. They'll whine and act like they don't want to go but once they get there, they will have a blast.
9a.m. - 11a.m. workout.
11a.m. shower so I don't stink, but no make-up or anything fancy like that. Okay, maybe a little bit of mascara.
11:30a.m.- noon - Lunch
noon-4p.m. - funtime with the kids: zoo, parks, swimming.
4-5p.m. - Math and Reading fun. They're gonna love that. Perhaps I suggest they can do their summer curriculum sheets or they can help me clean up the house. They'll be the smartest kids with the dirtiest house in the whole school. I'm sure of it.
5:12p.m. Ricardo gets home. Momma's off the clock, right?
5:13p.m. After meeting Ricardo at the door with a martini, start dinner.
5:45p.m. - Eat dinner that no one appreciates. Well, Farley appreciates me. Even when his pee smells like asparagus. And why are we talking about Farley's pee? Again?
8p.m. - bed time. Hahhahahahah! Whew, that's funny. Sigh. We'll try for it because I need to work at some point.

9 p.m. Reevaluate - Recuperate - Rejuvanate because the next day is coming whether I like it or not.

Again, I'm making an attempt to not yap on the phone in the car or while the kids are with me. So, I'll be available for phone talking between their sleeping hours of 9p.m. - 7a.m. Central Time. I'm also making an attempt to not be on the computer in Max and Lucy's presence. This is probably more difficult than anything. But I can do it. Oh sure, if I need to check a movie time or something for them, I'm on it. But that's about it.

My biggest concern is writing and working while the kids are home this summer. But let's be real, shall we? It wasn't getting done while they were in school anyway. So, why should I be concerned when they are home for summer break? I'll simply scratch that entire schedule I just wrote and roll with it.

I know that my time with Max and Lucy is dwindling. They are growing up fast. So, my only plan and schedule this summer is to chill with my peeps. Will do our typical fun stuff like swim at the pool and lunch at the zoo, and forcing them to participate in the library reading program. And then we'll have fun discovering new things together like biking through a park, or hiking through a forest we've never been to, or giggling in a new movie on a rainy day with a pack of smuggled twizzlers.

That's how I roll.
